I guess I can safely say this much. The 2010 Father’s Day Open House and Car Show at the Autodream Group was a HUGE success. Everything fell into place and it couldn’t have been a better day. The sun was shining and the property was bursting at the seams with people and cars. Our vendors and exhibitors were doing their thing and everyone seemed pleased to be here. What else could we ask for?
It goes without saying that an event like ours is nothing without participants. We get a small window of opportunity in this part of the world to enjoy our cars and meet other enthusiasts. There are a number of events to visit over the warm months and we’re glad many of you chose ours. We have debated the choice of throwing this event on Father’s Day many times. Do we lose participants because they’re busy? Do we get more people because Dad wants to see cool cars? It’s possible we’ll never know the answer but we know this much, we’re happy with the following we’ve built so far. I would also like to thank our suppliers and vendors who helped fill the gift bags as well as provide interesting things to see or purchase. I’m going to list everyone who helped make this day enjoyable:
Toolbox Automotive Tools & Equipment, CAA, Old Autos, Kool Jim’s Ice Cream Truck Wheel Class, Hill Boles, Lant Insurance, KC Automotive, Pigout, Surf City Garage, Beaver Buzz Soda, KC Slider Car Trailer (Greg Weber), Classic Auto Appraisals, Iwata Air Brush, Part Source, Zoro, Muffler, Boom Marketing, Great Lakes Auto Body, Emerald Pines Golf Club, Steam Whistle Brewery, Suubsek T-shirts, Pro-Spray, The Romance Collection Gallery, Kyjormac Investments Inc, Automotive Fine Artist Michael Irvin, PBE Distributors of Paints, Body Shop, Supplies and Equipment. I really, really hope I didn’t forget anyone. If I did….my apologies. These generous people contributed door prizes, product and time to help make this event spectacular. A special thanks to Dennis Dawson for his efforts and input. We also have our own families to thank. Lots of Autodream Group employees had family members along to help out too. All these ingredients are what enabled us to pull this off. We strive to provide services to our customers that are second to none. We are dedicated to our work and boast years of experience. If you have any automotive needs, custom or daily driver, stop by and see us. Feel free to pick our brains and see if we can come up with a solution to meet your needs. We offer complete restoration service as well as a full mechanical shop. Don’t ever think that your dream is too big or too small for us. We can get your car looking its best and keep it running well too. We’ll guide you in the right direction and help you make the choice that is best for you.
Finally, we had to pick some winners. That is always the difficult part of the event. There are always lots of great cars to choose from. Everybody has a different opinion too. Don’t ever be discouraged if your car doesn’t win. The real reward is the feeling you get when you drive it.
Moving on, this is the crazy
season for automotive enthusiasts of any stripe. There seems to be a
cruise night every day of the week and a car show or two on the
weekends. We have to enjoy our opportunities to drive when we have
them. Winter is long and it can be like torture waiting to get back
on the road. There is something to be said for the seasons though.
They seem to give us pause to appreciate our passions and allow us
to dream of the upcoming season. Many would say they’d love to drive
their specialty cars all year long and I can understand that. I
wonder though if the burn to spend every waking hour behind the
wheel would dwindle if we didn’t feel a sense of urgency I think it
would. That comes from living in an area with four seasons. We
anticipate changes in the seasons and the opportunities those
changes offer. Our calendar has been full this year, as far as
events go. We have been out to cruise nights in Welland, Niagara
Falls, Burlington and many car shows too. We attended The Downtown
St. Catharines Car Show and it seemed to go off without a hitch.
That is almost impossible to do. We really enjoyed our day and were
pleased to participate and sponsor that event. Thanks again to
everyone who attended and made this event successful. It is
definitely one event to mark on your calendars for next year. We
also had the pleasure of spending the day at the Hotrod Hootenanny
Car Show in downtown Niagara Falls last weekend. That was another
good event that is only going to get better. These events grow every
year and I’m sure 2011 will be another great day for the organizers
of this event. Car Shows are always dependent on the weather and we
managed to slip through this day unscathed. The clouds rolled in and
the wind picked up but the sky didn’t open up and we were spared
from the rain. There’s nothing like rain clouds though to cause a
bunch of automotive types to put their tails between their legs and
run! The following day was Scrape by the Lake. This is a huge, well
run event. As everyone who has ever planned an event knows, this is
a major undertaking. This show continues to be a summer time focal
point for the car crowd. There seems to be a show for everyone, no
matter what your interest is. That is not the end of the list
either. We still have the Niagara Corvette Club putting on a show at
Reif Estate Winery, Canal Days in Port Colborne, GM Car Show and the
popular Last Chance Car Show in Welland.
There are many different categories and interests when it comes to
vehicles. Sometimes I struggle to find a word that paints a picture
of what I’m trying to describe. We all have one thing in common.
It’s the need for interesting transportation and the satisfaction of
a project well done. Whether its chrome or paint, great upholstery
or new tools, they all capture our imagination. It might be base
thumping from a custom audio system or rumbling from exhaust pipes.
It’s the hunt for a particular part and the excitement of finding
it. All of these things motivate us to continue down this road. The
Autodream Group supports this lifestyle and we share your passion.
We’re here to help you with your future dream car or maintain the
one you’ve already got.
